Corporate Greed got us in this mess

Corporate Greed got us in this mess

I was reading a 'funnies' section the other day and this 'joke' rang too true:

'A local charity had never received a donation from the town's banker, so the director made a phone call.

"Our records show you make $500,000 a year, yet you have not given a penny to charity," the director began. "Wouldn't you like to help the community?"

The banker replied "Did your research show that my mother is ill, with extremely expensive medical bills?"

"Um, no" mumbled the director.

"Or that my brother is blind and unemployed? Or that my sister's husband died leaving her...

Too Much Hate

Under what guise of Love for (God) can it be right to strap a bomb to an 8 year old and a nine year old?  Is (God) that forgiving?

Buju Banton in court

Buju Banton in court

Buju Banton has been found guilty of "conspiring" to make a cocaine deal with Federal agents. I guess we would need to have a complete trial conscript to know if Buju made the first contact or if Federal agents were seeking to tempt a star with mo' money.

Buju won the Best Reggae album for his 'Before The Dawn' release that was partially written and recorded in prison, and as someone noted here the lyrics may be prophetic and poignant.

If anyone has access to the conscript please forward.. We will post...

Jah Thomas Interviews

OK... So I was digging through some boxes of cassettes, you do know what they are, right? Anyway some of them are of shows I did at the 100 Club on Oxford Street and then I came across this cassette with an interview of Jah Thomas in 1980 by Penny Reel at my 'home studio', actually I ran it through my DJ console so although not professional quality it is great to hear Jah Thomas on top of his form and being the 'Joker Smoker' that he is. http://www.myREGGAEspace.com/Jah_Thomas...

Love is.....

By Silver Kamel 01 Apr 2010 12:16 PM Tag: Thought for the day

Love is..... Love is patient, Love is kind,
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends.

Piracy In France Increases Despite Three-Strikes Law
A new study by Université de Rennes found the number of people accessing music illegally outside of P2P networks in France has increased 27 percent despite the implementation of the three-strikes Creation and Internet Law this past September. Only 33 percent of users ceased accessing music illegally by any method, with remaining users accessing music illegally via streaming or file-hosting sites. In related news, a European Union study...

The Haiti Disaster

By Silver Kamel 20 Jan 2010 06:05 AM Tag: default

There is an old saying "No matter how bad you think you have it right now, there is always someone worse off than you".

These words ring very true right now as we look at the news and see horrific scenes that we cannot comprehend having to live in and see the pain and sorrow on so many faces.

I know times have been tough for many of us, but now is the time to be selfless and help these people with gifts of food, clothes, money and your time.

The country of Haiti will take many years to recover from this natural disaster, just as New Orleans is...

Congratulations to Benaissa

By Silver Kamel 05 Dec 2009 06:07 AM Tag: default

Congratulations to Benaissa Greetings Global Reggae Citizens,

What a great end to a very busy and productive week for Silver Kamel!
I would like you all to join me in congratulating Benaissa on his nomination for Best Album. 'Tables Turn' and the judges selected the album based on my favorite on the album 'So Long'. I think this track has the potential to be a 'crossover' hit.
Even though this award show does not have a separate reggae category and have placed us in one of their World Beat sections we are still very pleased.
So please follow this link
