Biography
Keytown is the nickname for the beautiful old city of Leiden, wich locates between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in Holland. The Key part comes from the citylogo wich shows a lion holding a sword and a shield with 2 crossed keys on it, the keys signafy the openers of the kingdom of heaven. Keytown Sound was formed in the end of 2003, consisting of 3 members: Ard aka Martial, the sound's man on the mic, selecta/operator Leon aka D-Layon and selecta Marcus aka Senior. Before Keytown was born, Ard and Marcus first formed Ruff-E-Nuff Soundsystem while Leon took his first step in Reggaemusic with One Blood Sound. Together with their family and friends Hennieke, Yennifer and Marko they started the first, real, one and only Reggae Dancehall bashment in Leiden called The Glue Factory in 2003, wich takes place about 9 times a year and is known as the hottest ting inna the west of Holland for almost 6 years now. The Glue Factory mainly organises dances and concerts with national & international soundsystems and artists in the popvenue of Leiden called LVC. Big sounds like David Rodigan, Jah Sound International, Pow Pow, Sentinel, Civalizee, Supersonic, Demolisha, Herbalize It & SoundQuake have already touched the stage, as well as artists like BountyKiller, Ziggi, Freddy McGregor, Richie Spice, Maikal X, Turbulence, Einstein, Queen Ifrica, Chino, Papa Aya, Skarra Mucci, Yellowman, Eek-a-Mouse & Dr. Ring Ding who did a live performance with their band or on soundsystem. From start, Keytown Sound is The Glue Factory's resident sound, always playing a strong set of Reggae and Dancehall music from old to new and everything inbetween. The rising sound from Holland's nicknames "The Dutch Delight" or "The People's Choice" make clear they always play with positive vibes and full hundred for the massive. Playing in other venues outside Leiden like Paard van Troje (The Hague), Bitterzoet (Amsterdam), Patronaat (Haarlem) and more made Keytown hungry like a lion. Their goals right now are to keep Reggae and Dancehallmusic big in hometown Leiden, to be a respected sound in the ReggaeDancehallculture, and play big tunes all over the globe as much as they can! As for 2009 Keytown can add "International" to their name as they were invited to play inna Pescara, Italy in November 2008. Keytown Sound...don't take their kindness for weakness, the Dutch Delight is risin' and risin'...
